Rating: 2 out of 5 | Votes: 5This Article has been viewed 313 time(s). My name is Jon Baklund, I have been training the MKG curriculum since 1989 and have
always had a great experience there.
First I would like to thank my instructor Rick Faye for always being a positive influence
in the martial arts and in my life personally.
Private lessons, I believe have to be the most under used class at the Minnesota Kali Group.
Some may think that a private lesson is not a class, but in fact it is a class of one,
where you and your instructor work on skills that you would like to improve. You
canimprove your skill, martial arts does not take talent to perform, it takes skill.
I have taken private lessons from many instructors at MKG over the
years and I know that it has improved not only my skill, but my understanding of the
movement, history of the arts, and improved my relationship with the people that I call
friends at MKG. That is why I decided to write about private lessons as my first article on
the MKG website.
The great part about a private lesson is that you get to choose what
you work on here are a few recommendations for private lessons.(things you may not
get in a regular class, the “secret stuff”)
• Hubud/Dumog
• Chisao
• Stick sumbrada
• Knife work
• Kali / Silat
So get in to MKG and take a private lesson from any of the
instructors you may just develop your skills faster than you thought you could.
