Training for the fun of it, that is something that you don’t often hear in martial arts gyms these days. With the advent of all the “ultimate fighting” going around the globe, I would like to take a moment to say a few things.
You don't have to be an ultimate fighter to be at the gym.

I think hitting the focus mitts is fun. Doing thai boxing rounds for fitness is a good thing. Yeah sure people like to compete, however in doing martial arts now for 20 years I find competing against myself is still very satisfying, and some of the hardest training that I do.

What I mean is, it is ok to go to the gym and just sweat a little, or a lot if that is your thing. sometimes I just like to work some knife sparring with a partner who is quicker than me, then do some palesut drill and go home. Some days I like to come into the gym to lift some weights and say hi to a few people and go back to work or home. Then there are the days when training all day doesn’t even phase me, I can train & eat, then train & shower then go to the Kali Group, train and go home, those day’s are real fun.

The Minnesota Kali Group has always offered these environments for me, and that is why I like it so much.

I hope that in your training regimen you do allot af what you like, and some things you don’t like to much, (that’s usually the things that we need to work on) so that you training is well rounded, and then you will do it for years.

See ya at MKG, Jon Baklund.
