Minneapolis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and choke-holds to defeat the opponent.
MKG uses several sources for our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program. John Machado, Erik Paulson, Roy Harris, Tom Oberhue, Luis Palhares, Chris McCune and many others have contributed to this great program.
The classes are great for seasoned practitioners and beginners alike. Classes are based on drills that promote ease of motion and proper technique. BJJ is known worldwide as a “scientific” approach to ground work, and is an art that emphasizes hard work.
This program is by far the most competition oriented of our martial arts programs, but as with every program has more than enough room for those who are simply curious about a new art. Because of the competitive aspect of this art, the curriculum is constantly evolving. Our amazing instructors keep on top of the evolution of the art worldwide to ensure that you get the best of the best when in class.
Our primary BJJ instructors are:
Fabio Morescalchi: BJJ Black Belt,
Judo Brown Belt
Coach Joe Swore : BJJ Brown Belt
Coach Andrew Bendzick:
